Barcelona is located in the northeastern part of Spain, in Catalonia, near the border with France. It covers more than 187 square km and has more than 1.6 million inhabitants.
Accommodation
Finding suitable accommodation in Barcelona should definitely not be a problem for anyone. History
Barcelona was founded by Augustus, the first Roman emperor, as a Roman colony. It is currently the second largest city of Spain and is one of the most important tourist centers. It is ideally located on the shores of the Mediterranean sea and in addition to important cultural and historical monuments also offers opportunities for relaxation on several of the city's beaches.
Transportation
Barcelona airport lies about 12 km from the city center and has two terminals. Since the terminals T1 and T2 are 7 kilometers apart, it is always better to find out in advance from which terminal your plane is leaving so that you do not miss the flight. For transport around the city it is possible to use buses, metro, it is also possiblebrent a bike or scooter. The open, double-decker Barcelona Bus Turístic visits all major tourist attractions in Barcelona. Tickets are sold for one or two consecutive days and are available at bus stopsnand in some hotels. Most hotels also offer free city maps, and are also available at the airport. Barcelona is also one of the most important portsin the Mediterranean, boats come here from Rome, the Balearic Islands or Sardinia.
Weather
The ideal time to visit Barcelona is spring and autumn, in summer it may be too hot in the city. In January and February it is around 10 degrees and due to the fact that has almost no rain, Barcelona is also considered a great winter destination. In the second half of August some shops and restaurants in the outskirts of Barcelona might be closed - at this time, merchants generally choose their vacation. However, most shops should be open in the center. For parents with children we can recommend the amusement park Tibidado - it is located on a hill of Tibidado and in addition to many attractions for children, it offers great views of Barcelona. Fashion lovers might be interested to know that Barcelona was elected in 2012 the third most important fashion center in the world just after after London and New York. Several times a year it hosts fashion shows.
Landmarks and culture
Barcelona is associated with the name of the famous architect Antonio Gaudí - the most famous building is the Sagrada Familía, which has become a symbol
Barcelona. The Milà House, Park Guell, shipyard Les Drassanes, sea aquarium and the Ramblas are definitely worth a visit.
Sport
In 1992, Barcelona hosted the Olympic Games. Football fans must not forget to visit the famous Nou Camp, home FC Barcelona football club.
