Barcelona is located in the northeastern part of Spain, in Catalonia, near the border with France. It covers more than 187 square km and has more than 1.6 million inhabitants.

History
Barcelona was founded by Augustus, the first Roman emperor, as a Roman colony. It is currently the second largest city of Spain and is one of the most important tourist centers. Transportation
Barcelona airport lies about 12 km from the city center and has two terminals. Since the terminals T1 and T2 are 7 kilometers apart, it is always better to find out in advance from which terminal your plane is leaving so that you do not miss the flight. For transport around the city it is possible to use buses, metro, it is also possiblebrent a bike or scooter. The open, double-decker Barcelona Bus Turístic visits all major tourist attractions in Barcelona. Tickets are sold for one or two consecutive days and are available at bus stopsnand in some hotels. Barcelona is also one of the most important portsin the Mediterranean, boats come here from Rome, the Balearic Islands or Sardinia.
Weather
The ideal time to visit Barcelona is spring and autumn, in summer it may be too hot in the city.
