Prague History
First people came to this area many thousands years ago. Prague was a seat of many famous kings, princes and emperors. Prague Castle was founded in the 9th century by the Premyslids that were czech kings till the beginning of the 14th century. In this century, Prague was one of the most important European cities. Czech king and Roman emperor Charles IV was our most famous king that established New Town, Charles Bridge, University or Cathedral. Another important emperor who lived here and transformed Prague to cultural centre of Europe was Rudolf II. In the 19th century many factories and railways were built. In 1918 was founded Czechoslovakia with our first president T. G. Masaryk. After world war II, our country went under the comunism regime that was in power till 1989. In November 1989 the comunists finished by the Velvet revolution. In 1993 Chechoslovakia splited to the Czech republic and Slovak republic. In 2004 we entered in the European Union.
Sights in Prague
Prague, nicknamed as the city of one hundred towers, is a town with many beautiful monuments, churches, cathedrals, squares, bridges, museums, as well as theaters, the most famous of which is the National Theater built in 1883. The most frequently visited places include Prague Castle with St Vitus Cathedral, Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, where the Astronomical Clock or Tyn Church is located. Other popular tourist destinations are Vysehrad, Petřín lookout tower or the Prague Jewish Quarter located in the Old Town. It is worth mentioning the Prague Zoo and Botanical Garden in Troja district of Prague, which can be conveniently reached by regular bus lines or an interesting option, and by boat on the river Vltava, which runs twice a day from Rašín's waterfront in the city center. The voyage takes approximately 75 minutes. Fashion lovers can visit the most prestigious Prague fashion boulevard, Pařížská Street, leading from the Old Town Square to the Czech Bridge offering the world's most luxurious boutiques, as well as prestigious restaurants and cafes. Other interesting places and buildings to visit are the Bethlehem Chapel, the Municipal House located next to the Powder Tower or the Emmaus Monastery in New Town.
Transport to Prague
Prague is an important traffic junction of Central Europe. The main Prague airport is Václav Havel Airport, located approximately 20 km northeast of the city center. The largest Czech airline is Czech Airlines (CSA) operating scheduled and charter flights to major European cities, as well as to West Asian destinations. Prague is also an important railway hub. The main railway station is located in the city center and is easily reachable by public transport in Prague. The Eurocity (EC) train network connects Prague with major European cities such as Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava, Cracow or Amsterdam. Public transport, integrated into the Prague Integrated Transport system, is serviced by a metro with three main lines, trams, buses and trains. In the city center there is the largest bus station in Prague Florenc, which daily routes to many European destinations.
Sport in Prague
Prague is a sports town with football clubs such as AC Sparta Praha, SK Slavia Praha, Bohemians 1905 or FK Viktoria Žižkov. The hockey clubs are HC Slavia Praha and HC Sparta Praha. The largest Prague multifunctional hall, which welcomes major matches, tournaments and many concerts and social events, is the O2 arena, located in Prague 9, Libeň. Prague organizes the Prague International Marathon (PIM) every year in May, ranging among prestigious world races and welcoming racers from all over the world.

We can mention, for example, a great musical event Prague Spring, which takes place in the Prague Rudolfinum.
