The Wengen Guide
Wegen, a UNESCO World Heritage Site village located at the foot of the Swiss Mönch (Monk), Jungfrau (Virgin) and Eiger (Giant) mountains and overlooking the Lauterbrunnen Valley in the canton of Bern. It is located at an altitude of 1,274 m a.s.l. and only the railway - Wengernalpbahn leads here.

History of Wengen
The first mention of Wengen dates from 1268, it was an agricultural area, only in the 19th century did tourism begin to develop. Its popularity is increasing with the construction of the Wengernalpbahn cogwheel, which, as already mentioned, is the only access road to the resort.

As already mentioned, Wengen is a place without road transport, so whoever chooses it as their holiday destination must expect that he and all his luggage will be transported by train.
