Budva Guide
Budva is a seaside city in Montenegro. It is located in the central part of the Adriatic coast on the Budva Riviera. Budva rises above the mountain massif Lovcen and Paštoviči that protects the city against inclement inland climates. In this most popular Montenegro destination lives about 18,000 residents. But during the summer months, up to a half a million tourists move in.

Accommodation in Budva is very rich, from private accommodation (apartments) to five-star hotels. Prices for accommodation here vary not only by the type of accommodation, but also according to the season. The highest prices are, of course, during the summer months of July and August. If, however you arrive in the spring or autumn, prices for accommodation are dramatically reduced. Most of the accommodation we offer is located close to the beaches of Slovakia and Becici. History of Budva
History of Budva is 3,500 years old. And that makes it one of the oldest inhabited places on the Adriatic coast. During its long history the city was cotrolled by many nations. Already before BC, the city was seized by the Greeks. In the 2nd century, Romans had control over the area of Budva. In the 16th century Budva was attacked by the Turks and by the end of the 1st World War it belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Since 1918 it became a part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. The natural disaster struck Budva in April 1979, when most of the old city was destroyed by a big earthquake. Fortunately, almost all buildings were restored to their original form.
Transportation to Budva
The nearest airport (Tivalt Airport) is 20 km away. There are direct flights leaving from Belgrade and Zurich. More flights are heading to distant airport in Podgorica.
Weather in Budva
The climate in Budva is typically Mediterranean, with warm summers and mild winters. Thanks to the parapet mountain ranges above Budva, you can indulge in up to 230 sunny days a year. During the summer months, temperatures climb up to 24-32 °C. Even during the autumn there remain very pleasant temperatures around 20 degrees.
Monuments in Budva
Old Town of Budva is surrounded by defensive walls and lies on a small peninsula. The historic core is laced by typical cobbled streets and stone houses. The dominant feature is the church of Saint John with preserved parts from Venetian painters. Next to the church, there is an Archaeological Museum, one of the largest in Montenegro. In the southern part, there is a fortress from the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Another important monument is the church Saint Sava from the 11th century.
Beaches in Budva
In the vicinity of Budva, there are 35 beaches, of which 8 obtained a Blue Flag award. The most picturesque and most popular is Mogren beach with fine sand. Adjoining her is pebble beach Jaz. Other popular beaches include Slovenska plaza or Pizano. Many other beaches are located near Budva in neighboring towns and villages such as Trsteno, Sveti Stefan and Ploce. So you won’t miss out on a refreshing swim for sure.
