Guide to Valdaor
The mountain village of Valdaora is located in northern Italy in the Val Pusteria region. Valdaora (Olang) is located at an altitude of 1000 meters, surrounded by the Pragser Dolomiten massif and on the other side the Rieserfernerguppe. A little over three thousand inhabitants live here permanently. The biggest attraction of this part of South Tyrol is the famous ski resort Kronplatz.

Transport to Valdaora
The best way to get to Valdaora (Olang) is by car. You can also get to Valdaora (Olang) by train, via nearby Bolzano (70 km).
Skiing and other activities in Valdaora
As we have already mentioned, Valdaora's biggest attraction is the Kronplatz ski resort with 116 km of groomed slopes. There really is something for everyone on the slopes here. For advanced skiers, the so-called five black slopes of Sylvester, Herrnegg, Pre da Peres and Erta and Piculin await here. However, there is also a wide selection of medium and easy slopes. Kronplatz (2275 m) is such a large hill from the top of which ski slopes lead to all directions. The Museum of the famous local climber Reinhold Messner has also been newly opened at the top of Kronplatz. Cross-country skiers and ski alpinists will certainly enjoy other winter sports here. Most tourists visit the Kronplatz area mainly during the winter season, which is a shame. Because a huge range of outdoor activities is offered here throughout the year. Here you can enjoy alpine hiking, cycling, both on the mountain and on the road, or play golf at the nearby Reischach / Bruneck course.
Gastronomic specialties in Valdaora
And because South Tyrolean cuisine is a true culinary delight, don't miss one of the local typical dishes, such as dumpling specialties, pasta with local cheese or one of the apple desserts, while skiing. You should also try the local wines of the Lagrein, Verntsch or white Gewürztraminer varieties.
