Milan Guide
Milan is the second largest city in Italy. It is located in the northern part of Italy in the Lombardy region, about halfway between the Po River and the southern relief of the Alps. Milan is located on a flat landscape with a highest point of 122 meters above the sea.
Accommodation
Accommodation in Milan is generally more expensive. However, you can choose from a wide range of hotels of all categories. Cheaper hotels are located on the outskirts of the city, but also near the train station. In Milan, of course, you will also find apartment accommodation, that always includes an equipped kitchen. Most of the apartments we offer, are Studio type (one room) or an apartment consisting of a bedroom and a kitchen.
History
The history of the city itself dates back to the fifth century BC, when there was a Celtic settlement. Hence the original Celtic name of the city of Mediolanum, which means a city in the middle of the plain. The history of the city is very rich. In the 18th century, the La Scala Theater was inaugurated, where the famous operas of Verdi or Bellini were later performed. W. A. Mozart wrote three of his works in Milan.The beginning of the 20th century was not very good for the city. Mussolini founded the fascist movement here and subsequently the march on Rome. At the end of the war in 1945, he was captured around Milan and subsequently executed. Bomb attacks during World War II severely damaged the city. In the 1970s, the automotive industry (Pirelli, Alfa Romeo) restarted the city.
Transport
During your stay in Milan, it is best to use the well-functioning public transport. The ticket are not expensive. There two airports in Milan: Milano Malpensa and more distant Milano Bergamo Airport (45 km far from the city). However, getting to the city center by train is not a problem from any of the airports.
Weather
Any time of year is suitable for visiting Milan. The only exception may be August, when the streets of the city are too hot and some shops are closed due to the numerous holidays that Italians are taking this month.
Landmarks and culture
Milan is a city you should not miss. It offers a plenty of attractions. A medieval castle inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, with the fresco The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, Pizza del Duomo abbreviated Dome is Milan's cathedral. Or a shopping center set in a historic 19th-century Viktor Emanuel Gallery. In this shopping arcade, they offer the latest models from Prada, Gucci, Versace, etc. Football lovers will also enjoy themselves here, as Milan is home to the famous AC Milan club.
