History of Trieste
The origins of the city of Trieste date back to ancient times. As early as the 1st millennium BC, the entire area was the seat of the Veneti. In the 1st century BC, it becomes a Roman colony and its core is surrounded by strong walls and important buildings such as a theater are built here. From the 3rd century AD The city is exposed to repeated barbarian raids. Transport to Trieste

In Trieste, you should not miss a visit to the main monument of the city, which is the Piazza dell' Unità d' Italia (Unità d'Italia square). On the square there is as well the Lloyd of Trieste Palace and the Pitteri Palace dating from the 18th century. Miramare Castle, built in 1856 - 1860 for Maximilian I of Mexico, is one of the most important monuments of Trieste. Another monument worth seeing is the majestic Small Square (Piazza piccola), the Via della Muda vecchia and the Medaglie d'Oro staircase.
