History of Venice
The origins of the city date back to the year 827, when people fleeing the attacks of barbarian tribes began to move to the uninhabited and desolate area. The then inhabitants of Venice participated in the organization of the Crusades in the Middle Ages. The turn of the 15th and 16th centuries became an important milestone, when fine arts and architecture began to flourish in the city. Another important date is the year 1815, when Venice became part of the Austrian Empire.

Transportation to Venice
The most convenient and fastest way to get to Venice is by plane, the nearest airport is Marco Polo, located near the city of Mestre. From the airport, there are regular lines to Piazzale Roma. If going by car - for parking, it is necessary to leave the car in front of Venice. There are two main car parks, Tronchetto or Piazalle Roma. A pleasant option is boat transport, which will take you from the city of Mestre to Venice in an hour and a half. Another airport, 25 km from Venice, is Treviso, which is mainly served by companies such as Ryanair, Wizzair and Transavia. A frequently used mode of transport is also the train, where you can reach Munich, Paris, Budapest or Zagreb on regular, mostly night lines.
Monuments in Venice
