History of Vigo di Fassa
The Val di Fassa region is associated with the Ladin tribe. Ladin is asa well a language that has survived til today. The first archaeological finds discovered in the Val di Fassa area date back to the period 8-5 thousand years BC. Furthermore, traces were found here, probably dating back to 1000 BC, which prove the presence of hunters who hunted wild game here. The earliest written mention of this area dates back to 1144 AD.
Transport to Vigo di Fassa
We recommend that you travel to Vigo di Fassa by car. Bus or train are other possible transport options. However, expect longer times and also transfers, which can make your journey a little more unpleasant. There is a free ski bus shuttle service around the town itself and nearby resorts. You can easily walk to the center.
Skiing and other activities in Val di Fassa
Val di Fassa is one of the most visited resorts in the entire Dolomites. No wonder. The ski resorts of Vigo di Fassa together with neighboring Pozza di Fassa, Val di Fassa e Carezza, Val Gardena, Arabba / Marmolada and Alta Badia form the huge Sella Ronda complex. Over 400 km of pistes of various levels of difficulty await skiers here in winter. It is intended for children and beginners, recreational skiers, but also for experienced skiers and lovers of freeriding and carving. Snowboarders will also enjoy themselves here. The highest peak of this area is Marmolada (3,343 m above sea level). Directly in Vigo di Fassa is the Ciampedie ski area with an elevation of 2000 m above sea level. Experienced skiers can test their skills on the Thöni black slope. For lovers of cross-country skiing, there are 20 km of groomed trails. Vigo di Fassa is also worth visiting in the summer months, when there is a wide range of activities on offer. The landscape has the character of classic alpine nature with forests and rocks, through which you can go on various trails, discover new corners and enjoy the local beauty.
