We stayed at the Weingut Rieslingstub'n in mid-June 2011. A son and his family also stayed. We had a room with a bedroom and a kitchenette. They had two bedrooms, two baths, and a sitting room/kitchenette. Their two young children appreciated the room to move around in, it felt like home to them. The rooms were great. A friend stayed in just the standard bedroom with bath. His room was also great. These were the best rooms by far and the best price by far of our trip which included Paris and Lucerne, Switzerland. The family was very friendly and helpful, the son Robert speaks very good English, Erika speaks enough to solve your problems. Rolf was always working with the winery. The hotel is about two blocks from the main area of town, directly up from the bridge. A block north is the lift chair to a great view point over the valley. The hotel is is an older building but the rooms are very modern. The rooms with just bed and bath include breakfast, an excellent one. You can also have breakfast if you are staying in a room with a kitchenette but you must let them know the day before. If you are looking for the Ritz, don't stay here. Our room looked out over a small gravel parking lot, an old building, and the business next door that seemed to have something to do with repairing equipment used in wine making. But then without that view we would not have seen Rolf as he rode the unique car on a rail up the steep hill to work on the vineyard. Some rooms look out over the street. The area where you can dine or drink their wine is itself covered over with vines and grapes. You can also dine/drink inside but the atmosphere outside is part of what you will remember long after your visit. Their wide range of wines is excellent and very well priced. There is a "laundromat" in town, just a few blocks away. But it is actually a woman who does the laundry in her home. Her home is in an apartment directly across from the grocery store, second floor. She does not speak much English but with your handy German phrasebook you will be able to communicate. Seven euros for each machine load. I don't know if she will iron for an extra fee. We borrowed a very good iron from Erika at the hotel. Ask for directions to the grocery store (down toward town, then left to the business area), which is back off the street. The apartment is directly across from the entrance to the store. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Cochem and staying at the Weingut Rieslingstub'n was one of the reasons.

• Staff (the family), rooms, atmosphere, the wines

• the train that runs near by and the street traffic may bother you but we found them to be part of the overall atmosphere

rooms spacious with coffee & cooking facilities, ensuite shower & wc, motor bike parking a bit iffy but no trouble, break fast good, overall very good value for money, we would recommend this accommodation for short breaks
