Tatranská Lomnica is an important tourist center located in the Slovak High Tatras. It gained popularity mainly thanks to the observatory, which is located on Skalnaté pleso, which can be reached using the cable car leading from Tatranská Lomnica. The first buildings that still stand here today are the Lomnica and Grand Hotel Praha hotels. Tatranská Lomnica attracts tourists from many countries all year round. In the summer you can enjoy alpine hiking, and in the winter you can visit one of the nearby ski areas.

History of Tatranská Lomnica
The village of Tatranská Lomnica was founded in 1892 by a forest landowner. It was founded as the first climatic state place of the High Tatras. The first buildings to be built here were the aforementioned hotels Lomnica (1893) and Grand Hotel Praha (1905). During the world wars, many guest houses were built here. Tatranská Lomnica thus became an important tourist center. In 1940, a cable car leading to Lomnický štít was built and put into operation here. In 1970, the world championship in Nordic skiing was held here, which later contributed to the further development of this recreation area.
Transportation to Tatranská Lomnica
From Poprad to Tatranská Lomnica, you can use a small motor train to enjoy a ride through beautiful nature. The attraction is the local cable car that takes you to the popular Lomnický Štít. All Tatra settlements are also connected by an electric train, which is in operation all year round.
Points of interest and activities in Tatranská Lomnica
In Tatranská Lomnica you can visit the late Gothic evangelical church, then the seat of TANAP (Tatranský national park) and also its museum. In the nearby Slunečná louka, especially children will find entertainment in the form of the Tatrabob sled and bobsleigh track. For fans of golf, a visit to the nearby golf course and the Black Stork complex is offered. When visiting the High Tatras, you should definitely not miss a trip to Lomnický Štít (2632 m.a.s.l.). Cafe Dedo is located here, where you can enjoy coffee or the famous Tatra tea. In the summer months, you can enjoy walks and hikes along a number of well-marked and well-maintained trails. In winter, go skiing in the Lomnické sedlo area. Here you will find 2 cabins and 4 chairlifts on 11 km of tracks designed for downhill skiing. There are approx. 3 km long tracks available for cross-country skiing.
