History of Trieste
The origins of the city of Trieste date back to ancient times. As early as the 1st millennium BC, the entire area was the seat of the Veneti. In the 1st century BC, it becomes a Roman colony and its core is surrounded by strong walls and important buildings such as a theater are built here.
