History of Zell am See
The area encompassing the city itself and the nearby surrounding areas was inhabited as early as the Bronze Age. In 1357 Zell am See was promoted to a city. Since 1526, peasant revolutions were taking place here. The riots lasted during a number of following centuries. The year 1731 was a period of the Counter-Reformation, which meant the harsh persecution of protestants. The town had not began to develop until the arrival of the first railroad which was built here in the year 1875.
Transportation to Zell am See
Near lake Zeller am See there is a small, but popular airport, intended mainly for gliders and small sports aircraft. In Salzburg is a train station with direct trains to Zell am See. The train journey takes an hour and a half. The best way to move around the city is by car but it is necessary to count with parking fees. Free parking is available just in time from 18 pm to 6 am in the morning or at parking meters for max. 30 minutes.

Zell am See is very popular and one of Austria's most famous areas. It offers all visitors year-round enjoyment. In the warm months, you can try out a wide variety of more or less challenging paths. Sights Zell am See
During summer, festivals and shows are held on Wednesdays. They feature great artists, musicians and singers. Of course, there are also numbers of stalls with traditional Austrian dishes such as sausages (Würstl), Viennese veal chops (Wiener Schnitzel), bun with chopped (Leberkäse) or steamed dumplings stuffed with poppy (Germknödl mit Möhn). From June to mid-September every Thursday and Sunday a Magic Lake Show (Zeller Seezauber) takes place, where music shows play in conjunction with light effects. One of the monuments that is definitely worth mentioning, is the castle Rosenberg, which is the house of the mayor today. In the years 1894 - 1896 the Grandhotel Zell am See was built. It is also counted as one of the jewels of the city.
