Guide of Tux
The mountain resort Tux is located in the Tyrolean part of Austria. It is located in the Tuxertal valley near another well-known town of Mayrhofen in the Zillertal Alps. The alpine giants Olperer Glacier (3476 m.s.l.), Tuxer Joch (2388 m.s.l.), Gefrorene Wand (3288 m.s.l.) and Hoher Riffler (3321 m.s.l.) rise above Tux. Tux also includes five other neighboring villages Vorderlanersbach, Lanersbach, Junsberg, Madseit and Hintertux.

Prices here vary depending on the season from 50 Euros for a double room. During the main winter season, however, expect prices around 100 Euro for a double room with breakfast. Pension Marina, Frühstückspension Christina and Landhaus Lexner are the most popular among clients. If you want to cook something during your stay, we recommend apartment accommodation.
History of the Tux
According to archaeological findings, the area of today's Tux was already inhabited during the Stone Age. However, the first written mention dates back to the end of the 13th century. For many centuries, the main source of livelihood for local residents was predominantly agricultural activity. Tourism in Tux only started to develop at the beginning of the 20th century. The first ski resort was opened in Eggalm in 1961, 23 years later the area on the Hintertux glacier was opened. Today it is a popular destination in Tyrol.

The best way to get to Tux is by car. The nearest train station can be found in Mayrhofen, 15 km away.
Skiing and other sports activities in Tux
Tux is a true paradise for winter sports lovers. There are several ski areas nearby, namely the Hintertuxer Gletscher, Eggalm and Mayrhofen glaciers. A total of 245 km of groomed slopes and 77 lifts await you here. In addition, as the only place in Austria, you can ski all year round on the Hintertuxer Glacier. You can also use 14 km of groomed cross-country tracks, an ice skating rink or walk along 68 km of maintained winter hiking trails. Local toboggan runs are a very fun activity that will undoubtedly delight your children as well. However, there is no boredom in a tux even during the summer. You can go on a walk of varying degrees of difficulty along the local hiking trails, which also connect to other marked trails in the vicinity. In total, you will find 350 km of marked paths here. For the more skilled, there are 5 via ferrata routes of varying difficulty. The entire Zillertal Valley, including the Tuxertá Valley, is also considered a first-class place for cycling.
